SEDRS Implementation - SELPA Checklist

Beginning in the spring of 2007, all preschool special education programs in California will be responsible for implementing the Desired Results System. All three, four, and five year old preschoolers with I E Ps must be assessed using the revised Preschool Desired Results Developmental Profile (PS DRDP-R) or the Desired Results Developmental Profile access (DRDP access). The results of these assessments will be reported to CDE using the Special Education Desired Results System (SEDRS) or local M I S systems.

Special Education Local Planning Agency (SELPA) administrators will be responsible for ensuring that assessment results are reported for every preschool age child with and I E P. The data entry procedures will be individualized by each SELPA based on its organizational structure. Some SELPA’s might have preschool special education teachers enter data while others might have data-entry clerks do this work. Data entry will begin in Spring 2007 and will be repeated biannually (fall and spring). The SEDRS will be available after April 16, 2007.

Please check the Desired Results access web site for more information www.draccess.org or email us at info@sedrs.org with specific questions.

Description of the Activities Necessary to Implement the SEDRS System

1. Log into the SEDRS system: Create a SELPA administrator account using the information provided to you via email by the Desired Results access Project. This account setup information includes a URL, user I D, and password. This information will be sent to you by April 16, 2007.

2. Update SELPA account: Once you have entered your user I D and password into the SEDRS log-in page you will be prompted to update your contact information. This is the contact information that will be printed on the certification report that will be sent to C D E. It is important that the information is current for the person responsible for reporting to C D E. The information that is entered into this page includes: First name, last name, title, phone number, fax, and address.

3. Distribute passwords to authorized users: Administrators should distribute the PDF file with registration instructions to the appropriate personnel via their network email or interoffice mail. It may also be necessary to alert teachers and data entry clerks directly. Teachers and data entry clerks will also need to be informed of their responsibilities in entering data into the system.

4. Periodic completeness checks: Data is complete when the number of completed records is equal to the number of 3 to 5 year old preschoolers with I E Ps served by the SELPA. Note that children who are entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2007 are not included in the spring 2007 reporting.

5. Certification: To certify data to C D E, you must ensure that your child-level data is complete. Submit the data electronically to the SEDRS using the “Certify DRDPs” link on the SELPA account page. Follow the instructions on the page, print and sign the certification report, and send the report to C D E.
