SEDRS Frequently Asked Questions
Beginning in the spring of 2007, all special education preschool programs will implement the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) for all three, four, and five year olds with IEPs. The DRDP data for each child will be entered into an online data reporting system, the Special Education Desired Results System (SEDRS). The following table addresses frequently asked questions about the SEDRS. Please note that this document will be updated periodically.

What is the SEDRS?
The Special Education Desired Results System (SEDRS) is an online tool that collects Desired Results assessment data (Information Page and Rating Record) through a secure web interface for storage in a central database. It is the mechanism for reporting DRDP data for all preschool children with IEPs to CDE.
Who can access the SEDRS?
SELPA administrators will login to the system using User-IDs and passwords distributed by Desired Results access Project. Special education preschool teachers, service providers, and data entry clerks will log onto the system using a password provided by the SELPA.
What responsibilities do users have for data reporting?
Teachers, special education service providers and data entry clerks will enter the responses, recorded on the paper Information Page and Rating Record, into the SEDRS. SELPA administrators will manage user accounts and certify data.
When will data be entered into the SEDRS?
Data entry will begin in Spring 2007 and will be repeated biannually (fall and spring).
When will the SEDRS be available?
The SEDRS will be online and ready for data entry by April 1, 2007.
When is data due to CDE?
Data is due to CDE by June 30, 2007.
How is the data secured?
Data submitted to the SEDRS is:
• stored on SQL servers protected with firewalls and data encryption
• password-protected
• only accessible to appropriate Sacramento County Office of Education Instructional Technology Division, Desired Results access Project, and CA CDE Special Education Division personnel
• backed up in systems securely locked and stored in more than one physical location
What hardware and software do I need to use the system?
• a computer with a mouse or mouse equivalent
• a connection to the Internet
• one of the following internet browsers: for PC use Internet Explorer version 6 or Mozilla Firefox. For Macintosh use Safari or Mozilla Firefox
• a monitor set at 800 x 600 or larger
• JavaScript enabled in your browser. Note – most computers have JavaScript. If yours doesn’t, visit: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
What will be entered into the system?
Only the information recorded on the printed version of the Information Page and Rating Record will be entered into the SEDRS.
How long will it take an experienced user to enter an Information Page and Rating Record?
About 15 minutes. Many factors might affect how long it takes to enter data including:
• speed of your internet connection
• speed of your computer
• amount of traffic on the site
• user’s familiarity with computers
• legibility of the paper Information Page and Rating Record
How do I enter a child’s data?
Login to the SEDRS, click “enter a new DRDP-R” or “enter a new DRDP access” and you will be directed to the first data entry screen.
What supports are available?
The SEDRS is supported by both a web page that addresses the most frequently asked questions and technical support via email.
