Required DRDP Assessor Training for Special Education

Important update regarding the required courses in DR Access Learn.

What’s changing?

  • Current DR Access Learn required training courses will no longer be available after March 2, 2026.
  • All courses are being updated to support the DRDP (2025).
  • New required courses will be available in May 2026.
  • All assessors will be required to complete the new courses once they are launched.
  • This includes assessors with many years of experience as well as those who are newer to the DRDP.
  • We encourage all assessors to complete the new courses by November 30, 2026 or prior to completing the assessment.

What will the new learning courses include?

The updated learning experience will include:

  • Updated age-specific courses
    • One course for Using the DRDP for Special Education: Infant/Toddler
    • One course for Using the DRDP for Special Education: Preschool/TK/Kindergarten
  • An updated second course, replacing Benny Having a Snack with Kingston’s Learning Journey
  • Comprehensive learning content focused on:
    • DRDP requirements
    • The structure and components of the DRDP (2025)
    • Observation and documentation
  • More robust opportunities to practice rating, supporting assessors in building confidence and applying the DRDP authentically
